Despite the efforts of the NCAA, college football recruiting has seen players as early as Junior High receive college scholarship offers from some of the top programs in the country. While some may laugh at a school giving a prospect in the 7th or 8th grade a scholarship offer, it has happened more than one would think.
So when does the football recruiting process really start?
Some have said recruiting doesn’t start until the summer of a prospects junior year but the date continues to move up. In fact, if your really want to know when recruiting starts, always remember the first day of a prospects freshman year starts one part of the process, the academic part.
More prospects have been lost during from their academic performance during their freshman year because of poor academics. For many of these young men, playing football at the high school varsity level has not even started but they are behind those who are getting the job done academically.
So remember the first day of your freshman year is when your recruiting process really begins.
