Dave founded Dave Berk Consulting in the spring of 2016 after years of helping parents and high school football prospects navigate the recruiting process while working with Scout.com.

Many of the parents Dave helped, urged him to take his years of knowledge and start a company specializing in providing real facts about what happens during the recruiting process while helping their sons reach a goal of trading the game of football for educational dollars.

Working One-on-One with aspiring athletes and their parents, Dave has proven to be able to bridge a gap between what is reported about the process and what is the reality.

Dave stresses the recruiting process is different for each football prospect that takes part in it.

THE STORY BEHIND DAVE BERK

In 1997, Dave’s youngest brother Jeff Berk entered the world of college football recruiting as a student-athlete at Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne High School. Dave, 16-years older than Jeff, found his parents had no understanding of what was happening. After several mistakes early in the process, Dave soon learned the ins and outs of the process as Jeff started to earn interest and scholarship offers. Once Jeff started to earn offers the process took even more twists and turns.

After months of work Jeff would give his verbal pledge to play for Coach Don Nehlen at West Virginia University.

Little did Dave know that helping his kid brother would become a career as a college football team and recruiting analyst with Scout.com from 2003 until the start of 2017.

Jeff would become a dominant offensive lineman during his career for the Mountaineeers as a four-year starter while earning a Bachelor’s in Athletic Coaching Education in three-and-a-half years and his Masters Degree in Special Education.

During his final season at WVU, Jeff was named a National Scholar-Athlete finalist by the National Football Foundation, College Football Hall of Fame.

DAVE ON TV - RADIO - PUBLIC SPEAKING

Over the years, Dave has been a guest on local and national television and radio shows. He also does recruiting seminars for high school teams and other groups. The past few years the Legacy Football Organization (Brighton, Michigan) has used Dave to conduct recruiting seminars for their 7-on-7 league and during their annual winter and spring recruiting expos and showcase.

Dave has made appearances on FOX Sports OHIO, Time Warner Cable Sports Channel, NFL Network, 700 WLW, 980 WONE, JT The Brick Radio Show, Chick Ludwig’s Monday Morning Quarterback Show and many more.

I learned the recruiting process is more complex than I initially thought. Dave’s services paid off in hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships being extended to my son. I am thankful for Dave and all of his help and support.

In so many ways, Dave went above and beyond in what we paid him for. What we spent was nothing compared to what we should have paid. We owe Dave so much, he goes far above what’s required.

Dave “knows” people and those people you can also trust. After all of the visits, camps, and campuses we have been to, everyone knows Dave. He is respected among coaches. I know that I am still able to contact him any time with advice and consider him a friend for life.
